Malaysia

Malaysia was the easy one to reach from Singapore, just over the causeway, so I ended up going a few times. This was the big loop, over the Chinese New Year long weekend in January.

I crossed through Johor and took an overnight bus up to Penang. George Town is the draw: street art, hawker food in Little India, the Kek Lok Si temple, and a hike out to Monkey Beach in the national park. I caught the Chinese New Year fireworks there. From Penang I headed inland and up to the Cameron Highlands, where the afternoon went to a tea plantation above Tanah Rata.

My notes for the back half of this trip never got written up, so I'll leave it there; Kuala Lumpur and Melaka were on the list and are worth their own visit.
